Shad Bake 2001

Shad Bake

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Greene County has played host to the Shad Bake for the last 2 years. This event is held at the Catskill Point, rain or shine. The Greene County Conservation District plays a role in this event with Liz and Heidi helping out.

The Half Moon made its way up the Hudson River during the Shad Bake, and we were able to catch a couple pictures as it went past. This was an added bonus for all those that joined us that day

Half Moon

This past year, Liz and Heidi had a table for making headbands with flowers. After taking a piece of muslim, the children were able to pick out a few flowers, they placed the flowers on the muslin and placed a piece of wax paper over it. When it was all ready, the children used a rock to pound the pigmant of the flower onto the muslin and make a decorative headband

The children had a lot of fun making them, and we look forward to participating this year too
