Environmental Awareness Days
The GCSWCD education station included a stream table--a model of real-life stream dynamicsThe Cornell Cooperative Extension of Greene County has been hosting the Environmental Awareness Days for over 40 years, and the GCSWCD is pleased to be involved in this multi-topic, environmentally-focused field trip for local 6th grade students.
The 41st Annual Environmental Awareness Days were held on September 21 & 22 at the Siuslaw Model Forest. The GCSWCD education station utilized a stream table (a model of natural stream dynamics and flow) to illustrate the ever-changing nature of streams and initiate a discussion on water quality issues. Other station topics included forest services, wildlife rehabilitation, Lyme disease prevention, bees and beekeeping, and pond life.
