This page is constantly under construction.
The GCSWCD has developed this page to provide access to downloadable materials such as spreadsheets, typical drawings, construction specifications and other tools for use by stream managers. Please stop back often, or contact the GCSWCD if you have an immediate need for information. Thank You.
Important Notes
The following information is provided for use by stream managers who have correctly applied the principles of Natural Channel Design, based on a thorough stability assessment and selection of appropriate morphological design parameters. Under no circumstances should visitors use these materials to implement a stream restoration project which has not been correctly planned.
To insure maximum compatibility for our users, most documents are provided in Adobe Acrobat PDF format. The link below can be used to download a free version of Adobe Acrobat Reader, which will allow you to read, save and print these documents

Stream Restoration Construction Specifications
The GCSWCD has been working to refine a number of contacting documents such as bid forms, contracts, construction specifications, material specifications, and others, for use in projects involving Natural Channel Design concepts.
These documents have been used successfully by the GCSWCD on projects ranging from less than $10,000 to ones over $700,000, and have provided for effective implementation of a variety of work. Since the District is frequently asked to provide copies of contracting documents to partner agencies and others, we have posted recent versions of key documents on this page.
Notes:
* All specifications should be used only as models, and must be revised as necessary to meet the needs of each specific project.
** Each specification consists of a standard section (boiler plate), with a "Special Conditions" section at the end. The Special Conditions are used to fine tune the application of each specification to meet any unique conditions associated with the site or the individual project.
*** Each user is advised to have the specifications reviewed and approved by their project designer, preferably a licensed engineer.
The GCSWCD assumes no responsibility for errors, omissions or other faults in these documents
Bid & Contract Documents
The District uses the following primary documents when bidding projects. Each document can be edited to meet the needs of a specific user or project conditions.
Instructions to Bidders
Bid Form
Construction Contract
Construction Specifications
These are a series of general construction specifications which can be used on stream restoration projects as well as other construction projects. All sections, especially Special Conditions should be revised to reflect specific project or site conditions.
CS-01: Mobilization & Demobilization
CS-02: Clearing & Grubbing
CS-03: Pollution Control
CS-04: De-watering
CS-05: Construction Surveys
Stream Restoration Specifications
As the District implemented projects using new in-stream structures, as well as requiring extensive site work to construct a designed geomorphic form, we have found it necessary to develop new construction specifications. Typical Drawings of these items will be added to the site shortly.
SR-01: Rock Vanes
SR-02: W-weirs
SR-03: Cross Vanes
SR-04: Root-Wads
SR-05: Reserved

Stream Classification & Assessment Tools
The GCSWCD and our various stream partners have been refining a number of tools for use in the assessment of stream systems. Some items have been developed by the GCSWCD, NYCDEP or others, while others are adapted from federal or state agency assessment tools.
