Greene County Soil &
Water Conservation District WATERFRONT REVITALIZATION PROGRAM |
|
Since 1995, the GCSWCD has worked with many
of the riverfront communities in Greene County on projects focused on
rehabilitation of sites on the Hudson River.
The District has been able to use our experience with local, state and
federal regulatory agencies to facilitate these projects, in addition to
providing technical assistance ranging from site surveys to project
management. The District has raised
numerous grants for local waterfront efforts, and projects are on-going in
several communities. The GCSWCD has focused on these projects
due to their multiple public benefits such as increased access to the river,
improvements for boaters and fishermen and the economic benefits that are
associated with revitalized waterfronts. With the Hudson Valley being the
focus of many programs, including the NYSDEC Hudson River Estuary Program,
Hudson Valley Greenway, NYSDOS Local Waterfront Revitalization Program,
Hudson Valley National Heritage area and others, the GCSWCD has worked to
insure that local interests benefit from these programs. The following links
