Coxsackie Riverside Park, and the Coxsackie Boat Launch are In 1998, County Legislators Charlie Martinez and Sandy Mathes requested the GCSWCD to assist the Village of Coxsackie with a project to improve the riverfront park area. Safer access to the waterfront and  additional boat docks were two of the primary goals of the Village. In late 1999, the NYS Dept of Parks Recreation and Historic Preservation, the owners of the park and adjoining boat launch, and the Hudson River Estuary Program (HREP) identified the Coxsackie facility as a priority for improvements, with both programs dedicating substantial funding. The District was able to help facilitate this funding through its close working relations with the state agencies. An inter-modal transportation grant provided by Senator James Seward in 2003 will allow for expansion of the project to include extensive rehabilitation of the village street adjoining the park.

In the summer of 2003, construction on Phase I improvements is expected to be underway. The initial work will include the rehabilitation of waterfront by construction of a steel sheet piling bulkhead and a promenade along the entire waterfront. The adjoining boat launch will be extensively rehabilitated to include new structural components and development of docks for use when launching or recovering boats. The parking will be expanded, both within the park as well as along the street. The project will also include new docks, playground equipment, lighting and other improvements,  During the projects development, the GCSWCD has provide technical as well as coordination resources.  When completed, the project will provide substantial improvements that will carry the park into the future.
